In 2022, the average sulphates; of magnesium import price amounted to $255 per ton, growing by 2.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 23%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $372 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($259 per ton), while the price for China ($53 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (-2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, overseas purchases of sulphates; of magnesia increased by 54% to 104 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, saw a deep downturn.
In value terms, sulphates; of magnesium imports soared to $27K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic decline.
