Syringe Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average syringe import price amounted to $0.4 per unit, declining by -19.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 70%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $0.5 per unit, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($1.5 per unit), while the price for the Philippines ($0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Syringe Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022
The average syringe export price stood at $0.3 per unit in 2022, growing by 1.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the average export price increased by 192%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $0.5 per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($0.7 per unit), while the average price for exports to Brazil (less than $0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Nigeria (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Syringe Imports in Malaysia
In 2022, approx. 116M units of syringes, with or without needles were imported into Malaysia; declining by -6.8% on the year before. Overall, imports showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 142M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, syringe imports dropped rapidly to $44M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 97% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $59M, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

Syringe Exports in Malaysia
In 2022, the amount of syringes, with or without needles exported from Malaysia reduced to 47M units, dropping by -12.4% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 33%. The exports peaked at 66M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, syringe exports dropped to $15M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 28%.
