Wallpaper Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average wallpaper export price stood at $3,282 per ton in June 2023, almost unchanged from the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 23% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $4,395 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($8,188 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mongolia ($730 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mongolia (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wallpaper Price in China (CIF) - 2022
The average wallpaper import price stood at $4,793 per ton in 2022, declining by -19% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 19%. The import price peaked at $8,247 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($68,372 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($1,628 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+17.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wallpaper Exports in China
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of wallpaper and wall coverings, when their volume decreased by -12.2% to 122K tons. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 139K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, wallpaper exports fell to $446M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $520M, and then fell in the following year.
