Wire and Cable Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
The average wire and cable export price stood at $16,697 per ton in March 2022, with an increase of 8.8% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2021 an increase of 13% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in March 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($19,968 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($5,726 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022
In March 2022, the average wire and cable import price amounted to $12,000 per ton, picking up by 37% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The import price peaked at $12,816 per ton in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to March 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($23,108 per ton), while the price for China ($9,150 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Wire and Cable Exports in Indonesia
In 2022, the amount of insulated wire and cable exported from Indonesia shrank to 106K tons, declining by -6.2% on 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 14%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 113K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, wire and cable exports amounted to $1.8B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Wire and Cable Imports in Indonesia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of insulated wire and cable was finally on the rise to reach 138K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, wire and cable imports skyrocketed to $1.3B in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +72.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
