Over the period under review, sawn wood exports reached their maximum at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2018, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2018, Cameroon (X cubic meters), distantly followed by South Africa (X cubic meters), Cote d'Ivoire (X cubic meters), Egypt (X cubic meters), Ghana (X cubic meters) and Gabon (X cubic meters) represented the largest exporters of wood sawn or chipped lengthwise, together constituting X% of total exports. Zambia (X cubic meters), Zimbabwe (X cubic meters), Congo (X cubic meters), Mozambique (X cubic meters) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (X cubic meters) occupied a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Zambia, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest sawn wood markets worldwide were Cameroon ($X), Ghana ($X) and Gabon ($X), together comprising X% of total exports. Over the period under review, the export prices for wood sawn or chipped lengthwise attained their peak figure in 2018, and is expected to retain its growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, the sawn wood import price continues to indicate a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the import price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the import prices for wood sawn or chipped lengthwise attained their peak figure at $X per cubic meter in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2018, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
