In 2023, Cote d'Ivoire (X litres), distantly followed by Angola (X litres), Namibia (X litres), Morocco (X litres) and Togo (X litres) were the largest importers of wine, together committing X% of total imports. Ghana (X litres), Guinea-Bissau (X litres), Cameroon (X litres), Algeria (X litres), Burkina Faso (X litres), Kenya (X litres), Nigeria (X litres) and Botswana (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Algeria (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X), Angola ($X) and Morocco ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2023, together accounting for X% of total imports. Namibia, Cameroon, Kenya, Ghana, Botswana, Togo, Guinea-Bissau, Algeria, Nigeria and Burkina Faso lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

Among the main importing countries, Togo, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Africa stood at $X per litre in 2023, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the last eleven years, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by X%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per litre.
