Paper And Paperboard Market Size in Croatia

The Croatian paper and paperboard market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after three years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Exports from Croatia

In 2022, overseas shipments of paper and paperboard decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, paper and paperboard exports surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Serbia (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Slovenia (X tons) were the main destinations of paper and paperboard exports from Croatia, together accounting for X% of total exports. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, North Macedonia, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Based on 2022 figures, paper and paperboard export price increased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
