Exports from Cuba

In 2021, shipments abroad of ceramic household articles and toilet articles increased by 16% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by 66% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ceramic household article exports fell to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a sharp reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 150%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Angola (X kg), Costa Rica (X kg) and Guatemala (X kg) were the main destinations of ceramic household article exports from Cuba, with a combined 98% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Costa Rica (with a CAGR of +75.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Angola ($X), Guatemala ($X) and Costa Rica ($X) constituted the largest markets for ceramic household article exported from Cuba worldwide, together comprising 88% of total exports.

Among the main countries of destination, Guatemala, with a CAGR of +61.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of decline, overseas purchases of ceramic household articles and toilet articles increased by 14% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 25%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ceramic household article imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a perceptible curtailment. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
