Grain Market Size in Egypt

After two years of decline, the Egyptian grain market increased by X% to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a slight descent. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports from Egypt

For the fourth consecutive year, Egypt recorded decline in overseas shipments of cereal grains, which decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, grain exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports faced a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Libya (X tons), Jordan (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of grain exports from Egypt, with a combined X% share of total exports. Iraq, Albania, Palestine, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Sudan, Portugal, Yemen and Kenya lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
