For the seventh consecutive year, the European Union recorded decline in shipments abroad of motor vehicles compression-ignition internal combustion piston engines, which decreased by X% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, internal combustion engines exports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. In value terms, internal combustion engines imports dropped modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Germany (X units), distantly followed by France (X units), Belgium (X units), Spain (X units), the Czech Republic (X units), Poland (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and Italy (X units) were the largest importers of motor vehicles compression-ignition internal combustion piston engines, together generating X% of total imports. The following importers - Portugal (X units) and Slovakia (X units) - each recorded a X% share of total imports.
