Woolen Fabric Exports

Exports in the EU

In 2023, after two years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of woven woolen fabrics, when their volume decreased by X% to X square meters. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 with an increase of X%. The volume of export peaked at X square meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, woolen fabric exports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Italy prevails in exports structure, accounting for X square meters, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Germany (X square meters), the Czech Republic (X square meters) and Spain (X square meters), together committing a X% share of total exports. Portugal (X square meters), Romania (X square meters) and France (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Italy decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Romania (X%) and Spain (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the European Union, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Portugal and the Czech Republic experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Germany (X%) and France (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2023, the share of Italy, Spain and Romania increased by X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the largest woolen fabric supplier in the European Union, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a X% share.

In 2023, Italy (X square meters), Germany (X square meters), Spain (X square meters), Romania (X square meters), France (X square meters), Portugal (X square meters), Bulgaria (X square meters), Poland (X square meters), Denmark (X square meters), Lithuania (X square meters), the Netherlands (X square meters) and the Czech Republic (X square meters) was the largest importer of woven woolen fabrics in the European Union, creating X% of total import.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Italy ($X), France ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2023, with a combined X% share of total imports.

France, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in the European Union stood at $X per square meter in 2023, jumping by X% against the previous year. Import price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven years.
