In 2023, the amount of lentils imported into Japan reduced slightly to X tons, standing approx. at the year before. In general, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, lentil imports contracted to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2022 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced in the following year.

Australia (X tons), Canada (X tons) and India (X tons) were the main suppliers of lentil imports to Japan, with a combined X% share of total imports. The United States, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
