Plywood Exports

Exports from Norway

In 2023, overseas shipments of plywood decreased by X% to X cubic meters for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X cubic meters in 2022, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, plywood exports declined to $X in 2023. Overall, exports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2022, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports by Country

The UK (X cubic meters) was the main destination for plywood exports from Norway, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, plywood exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X cubic meters), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Sweden (X cubic meters), with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2023, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to the UK amounted to X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (X% per year) and Sweden (X% per year).

In 2023, approx. X cubic meters of plywood were imported into Norway; dropping by X% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X cubic meters. From 2022 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plywood imports fell remarkably to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
