In 2021, purchases abroad of bleached sulphate pulp increased by 1.7% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, bleached sulphate pulp imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
