Photographic Film Exports

Exports

In 2023, shipments abroad of photographic plates and film, photographic paper, paperboard and textiles and instant print film, sensitized, unexposed decreased by X% to X square meters for the first time since 2020, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs at X square meters in 2022, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, photographic film exports shrank to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the global exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2023, China (X square meters) and the United States (X square meters) were the main exporters of photographic plates and film, photographic paper, paperboard and textiles and instant print film, sensitized, unexposedacross the globe, together generating X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the Netherlands (X square meters), Japan (X square meters) and Belgium (X square meters), together achieving a X% share of total exports. Germany (X square meters) and Malaysia (X square meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per square meter), while the United States ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2023, the United States (X square meters) represented the major importer of photographic plates and film, photographic paper, paperboard and textiles and instant print film, sensitized, unexposed, comprising X% of total imports. China (X square meters) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by South Korea (X%) and Thailand (X%).
