In value terms, sawn wood exports stood at $X in 2018. In general, sawn wood exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. In that year, global sawn wood exports attained their peak of $X. From 2015 to 2018, the growth of global sawn wood exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Indonesia represented the main exporting country with an export of about X cubic meters, which finished at X% of total exports. China (X cubic meters) held a X% share (based on tons) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Brazil (X%) and the U.S. (X%). Peru (X cubic meters), Poland (X cubic meters), Malaysia (X cubic meters) and Canada (X cubic meters) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Indonesia increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2013 to 2018. At the same time, Canada (+X%) and Brazil (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Canada emerged as the fastest-growing exporter in the world, with a CAGR of +X% from 2013-2018. Peru experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the U.S. (-X%), Poland (-X%), China (-X%) and Malaysia (-X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Indonesia (+X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2013-2018, the share of Malaysia (-X p.p.) and China (-X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the U.S. ($X) remains the largest sawn wood supplier worldwide, comprising X% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Malaysia ($X), with a X% share of global exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a X% share.

From 2013 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the U.S. stood at +X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (-X% per year) and Indonesia (-X% per year).

In that year, the average import prices for wood sawn or chipped lengthwise reached their peak level and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.
