Global yoghurt exports dropped slightly to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of X% against 2021. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The global exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, yoghurt exports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Exports by Country
Germany was the largest exporter of yoghurt in the world, with the volume of exports amounting to X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by France (X tons), Greece (X tons), Austria (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Spain (X tons), together committing a X% share of total exports. Belgium (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Iran (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons), Poland (X tons), Zambia (X tons) and Romania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Germany increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Zambia (X%), Romania (X%), Greece (X%), Thailand (X%), Belgium (X%) and Saudi Arabia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Zambia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Spain experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Poland (X%), the Czech Republic (X%), Austria (X%), France (X%) and Iran (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Germany, Greece, Zambia and Thailand increased by X, X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the largest yoghurt supplier worldwide, comprising X% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by France ($X), with a X% share of global exports. It was followed by Greece, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Germany totaled X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: France (X% per year) and Greece (X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average yoghurt export price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by X% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (X%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X tons of yoghurt were imported worldwide; which is down by X% against the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, yoghurt imports shrank slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the UK (X tons), followed by Italy (X tons), Spain (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons), Germany (X tons), Portugal (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) represented the largest importers of yoghurt, together mixing up X% of total imports. The following importers - Sweden (X tons), France (X tons), Hungary (X tons), Austria (X tons), Ireland (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) - together made up X% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the UK ($X), Italy ($X) and Spain ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined X% share of global imports.
