Plastic Furniture Market Size in SADC

For the third consecutive year, SADC recorded growth in overseas shipments of furniture of plastic, which increased by X% to X units in 2023. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic furniture exports skyrocketed to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a mild slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa represented the major exporter of furniture of plastic in SADC, with the volume of exports finishing at X units, which was near X% of total exports in 2023. It was distantly followed by Tanzania (X units), comprising a X% share of total exports. Zimbabwe (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of furniture of plastic. At the same time, Zimbabwe (X%) and Tanzania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Zimbabwe emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. Tanzania (X p.p.), South Africa (X p.p.) and Zimbabwe (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Tanzania ($X per unit), while Zimbabwe ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tanzania (X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in SADC

In 2023, the amount of furniture of plastic imported in SADC amounted to X units, increasing by X% compared with 2022 figures. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plastic furniture imports contracted to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

South Africa was the main importer of furniture of plastic in SADC, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2023. Mauritius (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Mozambique (X units), Tanzania (X units), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units), Botswana (X units) and Namibia (X units). All these countries together held approx. X% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic furniture imports into South Africa stood at X%. At the same time, Democratic Republic of the Congo (X%), Botswana (X%) and Mozambique (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
