Exports by Country
Democratic Republic of the Congo was the main exporting country with an export of around X tons, which finished at X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Zambia (X tons), mixing up a X% share of total exports. The following exporters - South Africa (X tons) and Namibia (X tons) - together made up X% of total exports.
Exports from Democratic Republic of the Congo increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, South Africa (X%) and Namibia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, South Africa emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in SADC, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Zambia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In 2023, supplies from abroad of refined copper increased by X% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2023, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, copper imports shrank slightly to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2023, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
South Africa represented the main importer of refined copper in SADC, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. X% of total imports in 2023. Angola (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Zimbabwe (X%).
South Africa experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of refined copper. At the same time, Angola (X%) and Zimbabwe (X%) displayed positive paces of growth.
