Despite a drop in exports in 2014, Canada continued to dominate in the global unwrought, not alloyed aluminium trade. Canada exported 1,221 thousand tonnes of unwrought, not alloyed aluminium in 2014, totaling 2,660 million USD, 15% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 78% of its total exports on the aluminium market in value terms, accounting for 72% of the U.S.'s total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, Canada was a net exporter of unwrought, not alloyed aluminium. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms, from 2011 to 2014, the difference was even more pronounced due to high export prices.

Australia and Iceland were among the other main global suppliers of unwrought, not alloyed aluminium in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Malaysia (+78% per year) and Oman (+71% per year).

In 2014, Canada's top 5 trading partners were the U.S., the Netherlands, Italy, Mexico and Brazil, with a combined 96.7% share of Canada's unwrought, not alloyed aluminium exports. The share of the U.S. rose +5 percentage points, while the share of the Netherlands fell by -5 percentage points.
