Germany is one of the leaders in the global aluminium tube, pipe and tube or pipe fitting trade. In 2014, Germany exported 40 thousand tonnes of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings totaling 431 million USD, 7% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was the U.S., where it supplied 13% of its total aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings exports in value terms, accounting for 21% of the U.S.'s total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, Germany was a net exporter of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was less pronounced due to high export prices.

China and the U.S. were the main global suppliers of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings in 2014. These countries were also the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014, both at +7% per year.

In 2014, Germany s top 5 trading partners were the U.S., the Czech Republic, France, Austria and Japan, with a combined 45% share of Germany's aluminium tube, pipe and tube or pipe fitting exports. The share of Japan increased modestly (+7 percentage points), while the share of the Czech Republic illustrated negative dynamics (-3 percentage points).
