Poland is the World’s Leading Triticale Exporter

Poland dominates in the global triticale trade. In 2014, Poland exported 439 thousand tonnes of triticale totaling 96 million USD, twice over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Germany, where it supplied 83% of its total triticale exports in value terms, accounting for the lion's share of Germany's total imports.

Overall, the global triticale trade reached 189 million USD, with a CAGR of 16% from 2012 to 2014. In physical terms, it grew, rising from 473 thousand tonnes in 2012 to 820 thousand tonnes in 2014.

In 2014, Germany (43%), the Netherlands (15%), Sweden (14%), Italy (8%) and Spain (7%) were the leading destinations of triticale imports, together making up 87% of global imports. The share of Germany increased (+7 percentage points), while the share of the Netherlands illustrated negative dynamics (-4 percentage points).

Germany and Lithuania were among the other main global suppliers of triticale in 2014 with a combined share of 26% of global exports. They were the fastest growing exporters from 2012 to 2014 with an annual increase of +15% and +12% per year, respectively.
