Which Country Consumes the Most Quartz Crystal?

When calculating consumption on the global natural crystal quartz market in 2015, the leading consuming markets were Turkey (3,306 thousand tonnes), Canada (1,964 thousand tonnes), France (1,901 thousand tonnes), Chile (1,361 thousand tonnes) and Kazakhstan (1,207 thousand tonnes), and Norway (1,062 thousand tonnes), together accounting for approximately 73% of global consumption.

According to market research conducted by IndexBox, the highest annual rates of growth with regard to quartz crystal consumption from 2007 to 2015 were recorded in Kazakhstan, with +11.1% growth, and Turkey with +6.6% growth, from 2007 to 2015.

With approx. 3,306 thousand tonnes of quartz crystal consumed in 2015, Turkey became the world's leading quartz crystal consuming country. Per capita quartz crystal consumption in Turkey was estimated at 42 kg/year, considerably exceeding the global average (2 kg/year).

The highest level of quartz crystal consumption was registered in Norway (204 kg/year). Canada and Chile lagged somewhat behind, with 56 kg/year and 76 kg/year, respectively. Malaysia (9 kg/year), and Japan (1 kg/year), had the lowest levels of quartz crystal consumption.
