Beef Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023

The average beef export price stood at $6,466 per ton in June 2023, flattening at the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 6.6% m-o-m. The export price peaked in June 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Israel ($9,503 per ton), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($5,222 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Beef Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023

In June 2023, the average beef import price amounted to $5,684 per ton, with an increase of 3.7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 7.1% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,771 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($17,780 per ton), while the price for Italy ($3,591 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+13.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Beef Exports in Poland

In 2022, overseas shipments of beef (cattle meat) decreased by -3.5% to 362K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports recorded a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 0.8%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 381K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, beef exports skyrocketed to $2.2B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Beef Imports in Poland

In 2022, beef imports into Poland totaled 25K tons, picking up by 12% compared with the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, beef imports skyrocketed to $124M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +50.5% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
