Beef Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
The average beef import price stood at $4,355 per ton in January 2022, with a decrease of -4.2% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2021 to January 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2021 an increase of 14% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $4,577 per ton in October 2021; however, from November 2021 to January 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the countries with the highest prices were Belarus ($4,597 per ton) and Paraguay ($4,368 per ton), while the price for India ($3,917 per ton) and Kazakhstan ($3,992 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beef Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In January 2022, the average beef export price amounted to $6,686 per ton, which is down by -12.7% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2021 to January 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2021 an increase of 17% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,654 per ton in December 2021, and then dropped in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($11,925 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($700 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beef Imports in Russia
In 2022, overseas purchases of beef (cattle meat) were finally on the rise to reach 238K tons after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep setback.
In value terms, beef imports expanded modestly to $899M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt shrinkage.

Beef Exports in Russia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of beef (cattle meat), when their volume decreased by -25.1% to 24K tons. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 170% against the previous year.
In value terms, beef exports dropped markedly to $152M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 204%.
