Carrot and Turnip Price in China (FOB) - 2023
The average carrot and turnip export price stood at $604 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -24.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 54% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $803 per ton in May 2023, and then reduced dramatically in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($508 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($335 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Carrot and Turnip Price in China (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average carrot and turnip import price amounted to $808 per ton, surging by 10% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 95% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,808 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($1,276 per ton), while the price for Hong Kong SAR totaled $794 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+10.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of carrots and turnips, when their volume increased by 7.5% to 716K tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a perceptible curtailment.
In value terms, carrot and turnip exports skyrocketed to $502M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +10.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
