Carrot and Turnip Price in France (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average carrot and turnip import price amounted to $977 per ton, surging by 21% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 38% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,028 per ton. From May 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,274 per ton), while the price for China ($711 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+17.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Carrot and Turnip Price in France (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average carrot and turnip export price amounted to $864 per ton, shrinking by -23.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 98% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,130 per ton in May 2023, and then shrank sharply in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,065 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($498 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Carrot and Turnip Imports in France
In 2022, purchases abroad of carrots and turnips decreased by -15.2% to 134K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports showed a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 165K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, carrot and turnip imports declined rapidly to $62M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $89M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, carrot and turnip exports shrank dramatically to $19M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a abrupt decrease. The smallest decline of -10.8% was in 2021.
