Garlic Price in India (FOB) - 2023
The average garlic export price stood at $546 per ton in July 2023, surging by 21% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a moderate expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.7% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, garlic export price increased by +28.1% against March 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 66% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in July 2023.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($664 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh totaled $506 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+10.2%).
Garlic Price in India (CIF) - 2023
The average garlic import price stood at $1,964 per ton in July 2023, growing by 13% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 488% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $2,057 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Afghanistan ($2,045 per ton), while the price for Iran stood at $246 per ton.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Afghanistan (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Garlic Exports in India
After two years of decline, overseas shipments of garlic increased by 401% to 23K tons in 2022. In general, exports showed a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, garlic exports skyrocketed to $8.8M in 2022. Overall, exports showed prominent growth. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Garlic Imports in India
