Insulating Board Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
In December 2021, the average insulating board export price amounted to $315 per cubic meter, with a decrease of -16.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2021 an increase of 35% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $383 per cubic meter. From November 2021 to December 2021, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($650 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to the UK ($152 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Insulating Board Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
In December 2021, the average insulating board import price amounted to $276 per cubic meter, increasing by 16% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2021 an increase of 70% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $501 per cubic meter. From August 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($760 per cubic meter), while the price for Thailand ($180 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Insulating Board Exports in Malaysia
Insulating board exports from Malaysia reduced rapidly to 89K cubic meters in 2022, which is down by -15.1% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports recorded a dramatic setback. The exports peaked at 340K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, insulating board exports amounted to $32M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a precipitous decline. The exports peaked at $78M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Insulating Board Imports in Malaysia

Over the period under review, imports recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 90%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 29K cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, insulating board imports shrank to $3.4M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 110% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $6.5M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
