In 2022, the average molluscs import price amounted to $9,146 per ton, growing by 16% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.6%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($22,883 per ton), while the price for Faroe Islands ($4,045 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average molluscs export price stood at $10,127 per ton in August 2023, surging by 4.4% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a slight increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, molluscs export price increased by +4.4% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 50% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $11,111 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($26,934 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($3,754 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Greenland (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Molluscs Imports in Denmark
Molluscs imports into Denmark amounted to 6.4K tons in 2022, surging by 9.8% compared with the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
