The average import price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $900 per ton in October 2023, shrinking by -46.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 22% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,855 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($12,554 per ton), while the price for Kenya ($377 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds stood at $1,587 per ton in October 2023, rising by 65% against the previous month. In general, the export price enjoyed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 77% m-o-m. The export price peaked in October 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Norway ($2,500 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK totaled $1,289 per ton.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+20.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds, when their volume decreased by -12.1% to 249K tons. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 7.8% against the previous year.

In value terms, imports of cabbages, cauliflowers, kohlrabi, kale and similar edible brassicas; fresh or chilleds contracted significantly to $312M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 18%.
