The average export price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds stood at $296 per ton in August 2023, surging by 6.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $336 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for North Macedonia.
From October 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Austria amounted to +6.9% per month.

The average import price for cereals; maize (corn), other than seeds stood at $254 per ton in August 2023, reducing by -2.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 9.7% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $327 per ton. From January 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($252 per ton), while the price for Serbia totaled $232 per ton.
From October 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine (-1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
