The average export price for fresh or chilled bone-in cuts (excluding carcasses and half-carcasses) of bovine meat stood at $4,548 per ton in August 2023, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 16% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $4,648 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($4,884 per ton), while the average price for exports to Romania ($3,851 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the import price, however, showed a modest expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 24% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $6,862 per ton in July 2023, and then fell significantly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($10,509 per ton), while the price for Austria ($4,945 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
