In October 2023, the average export price for fresh or chilled bone-in cuts (excluding carcasses and half-carcasses) of bovine meat amounted to $5,745 per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to October 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.1% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $5,945 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($6,232 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($4,382 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for fresh or chilled bone-in cuts (excluding carcasses and half-carcasses) of bovine meat stood at $4,084 per ton in August 2023, with a decrease of -5.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 9.2% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $4,619 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Latvia ($4,314 per ton) and Germany ($4,260 per ton), while the price for Spain ($3,338 per ton) and Romania ($3,567 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a pronounced shrinkage. The smallest decline of -3.2% was in 2021.
In value terms, exports of fresh or chilled bone-in cuts (excluding carcasses and half-carcasses) of bovine meat rose remarkably to $751M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 18%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
