In December 2023, the average import price for leguminous vegetables; shelled or unshelled, fresh or chilleds amounted to $3,693 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2023 when the average import price increased by 25% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,098 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Guatemala ($4,555 per ton) and China ($3,931 per ton), while the price for the United States ($3,208 per ton) and Mexico ($3,655 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
