The average import price for meat of bovine animals; fresh or chilled stood at $5,990 per ton in January 2024, rising by 26% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $6,145 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to January 2024, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Uruguay ($7,719 per ton) and Argentina ($7,118 per ton), while the price for Colombia ($5,300 per ton) and Brazil ($5,387 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Paraguay (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In January 2024, the average export price for meat of bovine animals; fresh or chilled amounted to $40,497 per ton, increasing by 16% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a resilient increase from October 2023 to January 2024: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +15.1% over the last three-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2024 figures, export price for meat of bovine animals; fresh or chilled increased by +52.6% against October 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2023 an increase of 21% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in January 2024.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($75,745 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain amounted to $37,135 per ton.
From October 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+19.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
