In 2022, the average import price for molluscs; octopus (octopus spp.), live, fresh or chilleds amounted to $13,867 per ton, rising by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, faced a precipitous decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,894,625 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($23,023 per ton), while the price for Spain ($4,260 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+18.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Germany.

From 2018 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Czech Republic amounted to +32.0% per year.

Overall, imports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 115% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of molluscs; octopus (octopus spp.), live, fresh or chilleds skyrocketed to $88K in 2022. In general, imports showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 161%. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
