In August 2023, the average import price for silicates; commercial alkali metal silicateses amounted to $946 per ton, rising by 46% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a measured increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, silicates; commercial alkali metal silicates import price increased by +52.8% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 an increase of 51% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,143 per ton. From February 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($2,708 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($386 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for silicates; commercial alkali metal silicateses stood at $1,080 per ton in August 2023, surging by 11% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a perceptible increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, silicates; commercial alkali metal silicates export price increased by +11.0% against July 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 65% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,646 per ton. From January 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($3,567 per ton), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($384 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
