In September 2023, the average import price for chemical wood pulp (soda and sulphate, other than dissolving grades) amounted to $655 per ton, which is down by -3.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 3.8% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $899 per ton. From December 2022 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($1,159 per ton), while the price for Spain ($532 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In September 2023, the average export price for chemical wood pulp (soda and sulphate, other than dissolving grades) amounted to $656 per ton, approximately mirroring the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 3.7% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $918 per ton. From December 2022 to September 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices to the Czech Republic ($787 per ton) and France ($735 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($615 per ton) and Poland ($630 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (-0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Soda and Sulphate Chemical Wood Pulp in Germany
In 2022, approx. 3.7M tons of chemical wood pulp (soda and sulphate, other than dissolving grades) were imported into Germany; declining by -2.4% against the previous year.
