In 2022, Nigeria (X tons) represented the key exporter of ginger, comprising X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), comprising a X% share of total exports. Uganda (X tons) and Tanzania (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

South Africa, Rwanda, Algeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Burundi, Kenya and Mali lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Among the main importing countries, Burundi, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by X% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
