Brazil (X tons) remains the largest whole fresh milk producing country in Latin America and the Caribbean, accounting for X% of total volume. Moreover, whole fresh milk production in Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, Mexico (X tons), threefold. Argentina (X tons) ranked third in terms of total production with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume in Brazil was relatively modest. The remaining producing countries recorded the following average annual rates of production growth: Mexico (X% per year) and Argentina (X% per year).
Whole Fresh Milk Exports
Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2022, shipments abroad of whole fresh milk increased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2014, thus ending a seven-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, whole fresh milk exports totaled $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Costa Rica represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X tons, which finished at X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Honduras (X tons), Nicaragua (X tons), Argentina (X tons) and Brazil (X tons), together creating a X% share of total exports. Uruguay (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Costa Rica experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of whole fresh milk. At the same time, Brazil (X%), Honduras (X%) and Argentina (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Nicaragua (X%) and Uruguay (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Costa Rica (X p.p.), Honduras (X p.p.), Brazil (X p.p.) and Argentina (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Nicaragua and Uruguay saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Costa Rica ($X) remains the largest whole fresh milk supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Honduras ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Nicaragua, with a X% share.
In Costa Rica, whole fresh milk exports increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Honduras (X% per year) and Nicaragua (X% per year).

The export price in Latin America and the Caribbean stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Costa Rica ($X per ton), while Honduras ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of whole fresh milk decreased by X% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by X% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
