Ginger Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2023
The average ginger import price stood at $3,782 per ton in July 2023, waning by -8% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a temperate expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, ginger import price increased by +73.3% against August 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 22% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,112 per ton in June 2023, and then reduced in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($5,207 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($2,710 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ginger Price in Ireland (FOB) - 2022
The average ginger export price stood at $3,448 per ton in 2022, waning by -36.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $10,260 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($9,538 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($2,331 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2014 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+12.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Ginger Imports in Ireland
In 2022, imports of ginger into Ireland was estimated at 891 tons, surging by 3.3% against the previous year.
