The countries with the highest levels of kiwi fruit imports in 2022 were Belgium (197K tons), Spain (141K tons), China (118K tons), Japan (112K tons), Germany (100K tons), the Netherlands (91K tons), the United States (90K tons), France (72K tons), Italy (65K tons), India (46K tons), South Korea (44K tons) and Brazil (33K tons), together recording 70% of total import. Taiwan (Chinese) (33K tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +23.7%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest kiwi fruit importing markets worldwide were China ($492M), Belgium ($385M) and Japan ($381M), together comprising 34% of global imports. Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, the United States, France, South Korea, Italy, Taiwan (Chinese), India and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

Italy (269K tons) held a 17% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Greece (12%), Belgium (10%), Chile (8.4%) and Iran (4.6%). The Netherlands (41K tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from New Zealand increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Iran (+6.8%), Belgium (+5.2%), Greece (+4.7%) and the Netherlands (+3.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iran emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +6.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Italy (-2.9%) and Chile (-4.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of New Zealand, Belgium, Greece and Iran increased by +7.4, +3.3, +3.3 and +1.9 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, New Zealand ($1.7B) remains the largest kiwi fruit supplier worldwide, comprising 47% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($532M), with a 15% share of global exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 15% share.

Export Prices By Country
The average kiwi fruit export price stood at $2,229 per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 20%.
