In 2022, the average mandarins import price amounted to $1,614 per ton, growing by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 7.4%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,100 per ton), while the price for South Africa ($1,011 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cyprus (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, mandarins export price decreased by -0.6% against April 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 an increase of 66% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,570 per ton in April 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to June 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($2,894 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($859 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
