Price for Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in Germany (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $2,609 per ton in July 2023, rising by 12% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a moderate expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified import price increased by +135.7% against January 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 26% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in July 2023.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($8,660 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($2,218 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+13.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $1,521 per ton in 2022, which is down by -25.8% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified export price increased by +62.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $2,049 per ton in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($2,871 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,388 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of citrus fruits not elsewhere classified were finally on the rise to reach 5.2K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a deep downturn.

In value terms, citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports expanded notably to $8.7M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
