In January 2024, the average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses amounted to $7,119 per ton, waning by -4.4% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2023 to January 2024, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 23% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $7,612 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to January 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Poland ($40,964 per ton), while the price for Peru ($3,815 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
