In November 2023, the average import price for melons (including watermelons) and papaws (papayas); freshes amounted to $1,080 per ton, surging by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,184 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to November 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,881 per ton), while the price for Brazil stood at $1,005 per ton.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Costa Rica (+12.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Over the period under review, the export price saw a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 154% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $5,659 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to November 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Ireland ($3,651 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,033 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
