Price for Natural Rubber and Gum in Spain (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average natural rubber and gum import price amounted to $1,895 per ton, picking up by 19% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight shrinkage. The import price peaked at $2,151 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($14,188 per ton), while the price for Cote d'Ivoire ($1,413 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+19.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Natural Rubber and Gum in Spain (FOB) - 2022
The average natural rubber and gum export price stood at $2,447 per ton in 2022, falling by -3.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,725 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($3,223 per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($1,856 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+9.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Natural Rubber and Gum in Spain
For the fourth year in a row, Spain recorded growth in overseas purchases of natural rubber and gums, which increased by 5.9% to 12K tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, natural rubber and gum imports expanded significantly to $24M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 85%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
