In value terms, Sudan ($549M), India ($422M) and Nigeria ($331M) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 45% share of global exports. Ethiopia, Pakistan, Myanmar, Tanzania, Chad, China, Mozambique, Turkey, Burkina Faso and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 39%.
Brazil, with a CAGR of +80.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices By Country
The average sesame seed export price stood at $1,562 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 38%.
