Mandarin and Clementine Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
The average mandarin and clementine import price stood at $1,135 per ton in December 2021, jumping by 15% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2021 when the average import price increased by 18% month-to-month. The import price peaked in December 2021.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($1,173 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($411 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mandarin and Clementine Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
In December 2021, the average mandarin and clementine export price amounted to $611 per ton, with an increase of 43% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2021 when the average export price increased by 52% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,184 per ton in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($1,379 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($475 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Mandarin and Clementine Imports in Malaysia
In 2022, approx. 81K tons of tangerines, mandarins, clementines, satsumas were imported into Malaysia; surging by 6.2% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, total imports indicated tangible growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +64.2% against 2020 indices. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +91.0% against 2020 indices.
